VISITS THE FIDELCO GUIDE DOG FOUNDATION
Kicks off Fidelco’s 50 Anniversary Celebration in 2010
Bloomfield, Conn.- Her Excellency, M. Jodi Rell, Governor of Connecticut, joined staff and guests at a 50th anniversary kick-off celebration at the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation campus in Bloomfield, Connecticut. As a long-time Fidelco supporter, the Governor is serving as the honorary chairperson for Fidelco’s 50th anniversary.
During the ceremony, she presented a proclamation to Eliot D. Russman, CEO and executive director of the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation. It reads, in part, “For 50 years, the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation has served men and women with visual disabilities and the State of Connecticut with great distinction. Congratulations on this remarkable milestone and may the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation continue its success with another 50 years of service to Connecticut.”As honorary chairperson for Fidelco’s 50th anniversary celebration, Governor Rell will lend her name and take part in a number of events throughout the year in support of the organization’s mission of providing top-quality guide dogs to people with visual disabilities.
Fidelco, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Bloomfield, Conn., breeds, trains and places its own, unique type of German shepherd guide dogs with people who have visual disabilities. It pioneered In-community Placement in the United States; a process that allows guide dog users to be trained in the communities where they live and work. Fidelco relies solely on the gifts and the generosity of individuals, foundations, corporations and civic organizations to help it “Share the Vision.”
