IRA CHARITABLE ROLLOVER EXPIRES 12/31/09
Allows Direct Transfer of up to $100,000 to Fidelco

or Other Charities

Bloomfield, Conn.- If you are age 70 ½ or older, you can take advantage of the Individual Retirement Account (IRA) Charitable Rollover. You must do so by 12/31/09. On October 6, 2008, the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act was signed into law. The legislation included an extension of the IRA Charitable Rollover provision that was originally passed as part of the Pension Protection Act of 2006.
You can make a direct transfer of up to $100,000 to Fidelco or other qualified charities from your regular IRA or Roth IRA without counting the donation as taxable income. In addition to the tax savings, direct rollover contributions count toward your Required Minimum Distribution.
Here is what you need to know to take advantage of this IRA rollover.

  • You must be 70 ½ at the date of distribution.

  • Total combined charitable IRA rollover contributions cannot exceed $100,000 in any calendar year.

  • Eligible accounts are traditional IRAs or Roth IRA accounts.

  • Distributions must be made directly from the IRA trustee payable to Fidelco or other eligible charity.

  • You cannot receive any goods and services in return for IRA Charitable Rollover contributions in order to qualify for tax-free treatment.

  • Fidelco will provide you with a written receipt for your IRA rollover contribution.

The IRA Charitable Rollover is an opportunity to make a charitable gift you may have planned to defer until a future date. By making your gift today, you will be able to see and enjoy the benefits of your generosity. Contact your tax advisor and IRA custodian about how you can benefit this year from an IRA Charitable Rollover.
The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, Inc. breeds, trains and places German shepherd dogs that are placed with men and women with visual disabilities throughout the U.S. and Canada. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, it relies solely on the gifts and the generosity of individuals, foundations, corporations and civic organizations.
