On a recent Sunday morning, Fidelco loaded up two vans and took nine, 8-week old future guide dog puppies from the Z-25 litter to visit with Newtown children and families at the Newtown Congregational Church. Two Fidelco Guide Dogs – “Java” and “Cosmo” – also participated in the event, along with Connecticut State Trooper, TFC Paul Comesanas and his Fidelco-bred German Shepherd K9 “Neo.”
Fidelco’s puppies are new life and a symbol of hope, renewal and charity towards others. And every child seemed to understand the message. During the visit, I asked for the children’s help to name one of the Z-25 pups and told them that we would visit again while the pups are growing. As you can imagine there were smiles all-around!
Fidelco has long been a part of the fabric of the Connecticut community and we ask for a lot of support to complete our mission. Whenever we can, and when appropriate, Fidelco staff believes it is our responsibility to give something back to our neighbors and to the communities that support us.
Following the visit, TFC Comesanas wrote to me saying “Neo had an absolute ball being around everyone, especially the kids. It was such an important and healing event on so many levels…particular the children who have endured more than we can ever imagine. It's an honor and a privilege being a part of the Fidelco family.”
Special thanks to Fidelco’s staff and volunteers for your important participation during this healing visit.
