The Walk(s) for Fidelco; Celebrating 50 Years of Service

Don’t miss our Walks for Fidelco! Because we’re celebrating 50 years of service to men and women who are blind, we’re making sure they will be our best Walks yet. The first Walk will be held on May 15th at Manchester Community College in Manchester, Connecticut, beginning at 8:30 a.m. In addition to the hundreds of walkers and their dogs on the paved paths of MCC, we’ll showcase our amazing guide dogs and foster puppies

in demonstrations of skill and just plain cuteness. Our friends at the Connecticut State Police will also be with us to demonstrate the versatility of their finest German Shepherd K-9s. Visit the Fidelco family fair where Fidelco souvenirs and a variety of other crafts will be available for purchase. But that’s not all!

At 11:30 a.m., there will be a musical treat just for you. We’re pleased to present the Diamond Collection live and on stage. Recognized throughout New England as the premier Neil Diamond tribute band, the Diamond Collection will have you rockin’ and rollin’. So bring a chair, pack a lunch or visit our food vendor and enjoy this most special event. But wait, there’s more! On Saturday, May 22nd, at 9 a.m., we’re hosting our first Walk for Fidelco–Boston! The Boston Walk will be held on Castle Island on Boston’s South Shore. The views of Boston Harbor are simply breathtaking as you Walk for Fidelco around Castle Island’s Pleasure Bay. The walk site is part of the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation and features paved walking trails, playgrounds for the kids and a variety of picnic areas. Castle Island is easily accessible by car, bus or Boston’s famous “T.”

Register on-line for one or both Walks at www.fidelco.org. Then spread the word and get friends and family to sponsor you for the events in Manchester and Boston. It’s not about how many miles you walk, it’s about celebrating Fidelco’s 50th anniversary and the hundreds of lives we’ve touched through the years and those we will touch in the future. And for our 50th anniversary Walks for Fidelco, we’re creating a Golden Walk Booklet.
